A validated measurement

A step-input experiment on a coiled tubular reactor with 10 mass% acetone in absolute ethanol, run at 0.4, 0.8 and 1.0 mL·min⁻¹ with both step-up and step-down transitions, produced peak residence times that matched theoretical expectation at every flow rate. The curves consistently captured both primary flow behaviour and the subtler secondary features — bypassing, dispersion and tailing — that a nominal residence-time calculation cannot show.

The same measurement now runs automatically: the RTD tab in the instrument software applies the step-tracer method with a preconfigured ethanol–acetone system and returns the concentration profile, the RTD curve and the mean residence time in one place, with no external chemometric model and no offline post-processing.
